Standard Poodles
have been around for a long, long time

For Your Information
THE POODLE is a very ancient breed.
Standard Poodles are an older breed, meaning they have been around for centuries with very little change in the breed standard. There have been bas-reliefs, (a form of sculpture), found dating back to pre-Christian Rome and ancient Egypt, of shorn dogs clipped in styles similar to our current variety. There have also been bas-reliefs from the first century found along the Mediterranean, showing clearer conformation, so that experts believe these were early ancestors as well. The breed was used as a hunting companion, being particularly suited for the colder temperatures in watersports.

STANDARD POODLES rank high in intelligence.
Standard Poodles are known for being intelligent, obedient, and reliable. They also are protective of their environment, all the while maintaining an excellent temperament. On every list that is published by different breed research groups to promote their own breed for the most intelligent, and obedient, the Standard Poodle usually ranks #1, and if not, always in the top five. With all of this there is a bonus, they don't shed. That's right, they have hair (similar to human hair), and not fur, so they loose their hair when brushed during grooming, and not all over everything all of the time, like most other pets. Because of this, people who have allergies to dogs and cats can usually tolerate Standard Poodles well.
