Standard Poodles
Our poodle parents
When we originally bought our poodles, it
took time. It took us two years to find our
male, and three years to find our females.
We were amazed at the number of untested
litters being sold, and at a variety of prices.
We looked at local litters, and others from
throughout the United States. We also looked
at a variety of environments, from private
breeders to large scale kennels. We found
one similarity, most were not completely
tested, most breeders considered one or two
tests to be sufficient. We knew better. We
wanted the best of the best, both for our
private pets, and for their puppies.The parents of our new litter are magnificent and glorious!

Our malesare magnificent!They currently measure 26
and 28 inches at the shoulder, and weigh
60 and 80 pounds. (The Breed Standard for
a standard poodle is a measurement of 15
inches or higher at the highest point of
the shoulders.) One is a beautiful silver
in color, and carries recessive genes for
both apricot and brown, so we're always surprised
by his offspring. The other is jet black
and he too carries recesive genes for apricot
and brown as well as white. They both come
from a long line of champions, both national
and international, and have a very commanding
presence.They are great watch dogs, but are
also very sweet tempered, affectionate, and
social. The momsare glorious as well. They measure from 24 to 26 inches at the shoulder, weigh 50 to 60 pounds, and come from a long line of champions!They are beautiful girls. Their colors are ice white, apricot, jet black, and carry recessive genes for apricot, brown, and white. They are good guard dogs, while at the same time very sweet tempered and affectionate, (they will snuggle on our laps for hours without tiring). They are also terrific mothers to their babies! When we take them out for walks people always remark, "I never knew poodles got so large!" then they say "They are so striking, can I take their picture?" |
